Let's take a little time to review the verb estar. Remember that the verb estar means to be. It is used to express location.

• When we ask WHERE something is, we normally use ESTAR, not Hay.

• Hay is easy - it never changes.
  
• EG: ¿Hay un baño aquí? ¿Hay baños aquí?
  

• Estar changes - pay attention to the form - it will be singular or plural depending on what you're talking about.
  EG:    ¿Dónde está el baño?  VS ¿Dónde están los baños?
  

• Esta in contrast to Está
• EG:  Esta es mi hermana. ¿Dónde está tu hermana?
