You have completed lesson 5.6 Shopping in Other Countries and should now be able to talk about shopping abroad, recognize currency from Spanish-speaking countries and describe markets in Spanish-speaking countries.
5.6 - Writing Assignment - A Tale of Two Countries - Un Cuento de Dos Países
You and your cousin have been given a summer trip to a Spanish speaking country! That would be perfect if you got along well, but you don't ... So you have wisely decided to take separate trips. (!!) You are going now, your cousin is going to go next summer. Which country are you visiting? Which country is your cousin going to visit? You will need to research a few things to learn about these places to answer the guiding questions. Write 2 paragraphs comparing your trips. (Don't panic - paragraphs can be short) Just answer the following questions with complete sentences to write your paragraphs. Notice the different verb tenses - always keep the verb tense consistent in your writing. Your trip paragraph is in present tense, and you write this in first person (Yo). The other trip paragraph is in future tense (that we learned in Unit 4), and you write this in third person (about your cousin) Por ejemplo: I am visiting Spain. My cousin Rebeca is going to visit Peru. Remember what you learned about writing in Unit 4 - keep it simple to match your language level. Google translate no es tu amigo - es tu enemigo! Use it only for occasional new words - ask your teacher about them before you put them in your final draft.
