Completing the Conversation Assessment Successfully
Are you a little nervous about talking to your teacher on the phone and completing the Conversation Assessment successfully? There's no need to worry! Review these helpful tips.
- Relax and know that your teacher wants you to be successful and to feel comfortable during the call! Sometimes, when you get nervous, it becomes really hard to think! Your teacher knows this and will try to help you to feel comfortable. Ask for the question to be repeated if you need to hear it again.
- Remember that you are in Spanish 10 and your vocabulary is very limited. Don't feel like you should be able to speak Spanish in the same way that you speak English.
- Review before calling. Your questions will have to do with the vocabulary and content covered in the lessons. The more you have prepared for the call, the more comfortable you'll feel because you will recognize the words.
- Sometimes, and especially when you are nervous, you forget a word. Can you think of another way to answer the question? Did the question ask what color is your shirt and you can't remember how to say white? Choose another color! You will be showing that you understood the question and that you can form an answer using correct Spanish, even if the answer is not completely accurate!
- Much of the vocabulary you'll need to use when you answer a question can be borrowed from the question itself. For example, look at the question and answer below. Note the reuse of the words and phrases in the answer. Pretty neat, isn't it!
- Question: ยฟCuรกl es el precio de la manzana?
- Answer: El precio de la manzana es 50 centavos.
