Review of the Verb Gustar


Gustar is used when we express what we like or dislike. Remember that you need to include the appropriate pronoun to say who likes or dislikes something. Look at the conjugations of gustar and the corresponding pronouns below.

me gustaNo = I like nos gustaNo = we like
te gustaNo = you like (familiar form) os gustaNo = All of you like (familiar form)
le gustaNo = he, she, it, you (usted) like les gustaNo = they like, you (ustedes) like

  1. If the thing you like is singular, use gusta.

    For example → Me gusta la camiseta.
  2. If the thing you like is plural, use gustan.

    For example → Me gustan las camisetas.
  3. Use one of the pronouns me, te, le, nos, les to say who likes something.

    For example → Te gusta la camiseta. = You like the shirt.

    For example → Le gusta la camiseta = He or She likes the shirt.

    For example → Les gusta la camiseta = They like the shirt.
  4. Put the word NO before gusta or gustan to express dislikes.

    For example → No me gustan las camisetas = I don't like the shirts.

    For example → No te gustan las camisetas. = You don't like the shirts.
