Lesson 2 - Pythagorean Theorem Problem Solving


There are instances where right triangles are used in daily life. Look around the room you are in. You may not see triangles, but you may see 90° corners or other shapes which when broken apart contain right angle triangles.

In this section you will solve multiple types of problems which involve right angle triangles using the Pythagorean theorem to solve for missing measurements.

   The Goal

Here are the things you will do in this lesson:

  • Learn about the 3, 4, 5 triangle.
  • Determine if objects are square (if lines meet at 90°).
  • Indirect measurement in solving distance related problems.
  • Solving linear distance in contextual problems.
