Unit 1

What Does it Mean to Show Respect?

Activity

A Community Survey; pp. 6-7

The next step in this lesson is to conduct a survey with people you know about how they show respect.

A survey is another way to gather information. When you conduct a survey, you ask a group of people the same questions to find out the results. The results are usually used for research.

When you are conducting a survey, be sure to use good listening behaviours:

  • Look at the person who is talking.
  • Listen to what that person is saying.
  • Show that you are interested by nodding your head and making eye contact.
  • Think about what that person is saying.

Click each coloured tab for information about the activity.

Step One

Choose at least five people, whom you know, to do this Community Survey.  Some good people to involve in the survey are your parents, friends, teachers, coaches, or siblings.
