Unit 1
What Does it Mean to Show Respect?
Lesson 6
Images of Respect
A mural is a very large painting that is usually made on a wall or ceiling. For example, a restaurant might have a mural of a garden painted on one of its walls.
When you look at any type of artwork, remember that the artist is expressing his or her feelings in their art. Different artists might express the same emotions in different ways in their art.
Before you view the murals in Literacy in Action 5, write your thoughts about this question: How can a mural capture the idea of respect?
View a Video about the mural entitled Respect Refugees
