Welcome to Unit 4! This unit is all about games and activities around the world.
You will learn about how games are being used to help people in hospitals and those who live in countries affected by poverty. You will also learn how people have changed traditional games into something wacky and unusual!
You will notice that the same question appears at the top of every lesson: How do games influence people? This is our essential question for the unit. Each lesson in this unit will help you answer this question.
Throughout the unit, you will think critically about different points of
view and reflect on the importance of games and play throughout the
world.
In addition, you will:
You will work with graphic organizers, and do some word study with homophones, nouns, adjectives and verbs.

- make use of prior knowledge (what you already know about the topic)
- use visualization as a reading strategy
- synthesize information
- give and follow instructions
- develop media literacy through the use of newspapers, magazines, internet articles and logos
