Throughout this unit you will be completing lessons that require you to answer questions.
Each lesson is divided into three parts and often each part has several questions. You will answer these questions in a worksheet that is provided (download links and instructions are provided for each worksheet).

Click each coloured row for information about the activity.
You will be learning about the importance of play and games to the lives of ordinary people.
To help you keep track of your learning during this unit, you will be completing a KWL Chart. Download the worksheet KWL Chart to get started.
In the chart, K stands for what you know, W stands for what you want to learn, and L stands for what you have learned.
- Enter your name and the topic: Get in the Game
- Fill out the chart under What I Know - use these questions to guide you:
- What do you know about games already?
- What types of games have you played?
- Think about games you have heard about but never played. Write down your ideas.
- Fill out the chart under What I want to know - use these questions to guide you:
- What questions do you have about games?
- What do you hope to learn about the Essential Question?
- Leave the last section What I learned blank for now. You will complete it at the end of the unit.

Look at the words in the green shape on page 3 of Literacy in Action 5. These are only some of the words that you will get to know during this unit.
Are there any words that you don't know? Look up the words in a dictionary or use the online dictionary Kids Wordsmyth and begin work on the worksheet Vocabulary Chart.
There are many difficult vocabulary words in this unit. When you come across words that you are not familiar with, use your Vocabulary Chart to record the word, the page number you found the word on and the definition. Some important words from each lesson are included in the Vocabulary Chart. You will be reminded to add words to the Vocabulary Chart in later lessons and you will be using the words from the Vocabulary Chart in writing assignments.

How to save a file:
