Using Context to Understand Words
When you see an unfamiliar word in a story or article, it is possible to use context clues to figure out what it means.
This means using the other words around the unfamiliar word to find meaning.
On the Reader’s Notebook: Video Games May Help Relieve Pain page, you will see a section called Change the Word, Not the Meaning. In this section, you are given six words to find in the article Video Games May Help Relieve Pain:
