Reader’s Notebook page for your chosen story, write down these things:
- One thing you noticed about the title of the story, and what you predict from that.
- Two things that you noticed about the pictures, and what you predict from those two things.
Read the first page of the story. Using the chart on the Reader’s Notebook page for your chosen story, write down two facts from the story so far and what you infer from those facts. An example of a fact and an inference
has been done for you on each Reader’s Notebook page.
Read the second page of the story. Using the chart on the Reader’s Notebook page, write down three facts from the story and what you infer from those facts.

After you have finished reading the story, answer the four questions in the After Reading section on the Reader's Notebook page.
Save
How to save a file:
- Scan the document to your computer.
- Have the file open and select Save As from the File menu.
- Name your Reader's Notebook file in one of the following formats and save the file to your Documents folder:
- If you read The Strangest Friend, name your file jsmith_rnstrangestfriend.
- If you read The Abandoned House, name your file jsmith_rnabandonedhouse.
- If you read The Case of the Ruby Earrings, name your file jsmith_rnrubyearrings.
