Unit 6
What Does It Mean to Be Canadian?
Activity
Learning About Canada
Think Like a Reader - pages 128 and 129 of Literacy in Action 5B.
When you read in Social Studies, you often learn about Canada or another country. You may learn about the history of that country and its people, or you may learn facts about the country and what makes it unique.
Look at the different pictures in the middle of page 128 in Literacy in Action 5B. These pictures show examples of places where you can find information about Canada.
On the Learning About Canada chart, write down one idea of where you could find information about Canada and a specific example. For example, if you said you could find information in a book, your example would be the name of a book where you could find information about Canada.
After you have added your idea to your chart, save the chart. You will come back to it later.
