Activity
Report - Writing a Rough Draft
In this lesson, you are going to work on a creating a rough draft of your report.
You will use the information you gathered during the lesson Writing a Report - Researching and Gathering Information to do this.
After you have written your rough draft, you will submit it on this Activity page for your teacher to look at and give you feedback.
Click each coloured tab for information about the activity.
- When you write a rough draft, you are creating the first version of your report. This version of your report is not expected to be perfect - it is the first time you will be writing your report down on paper or in a Word document.
- You will write your rough draft in paragraphs using complete sentences. (Remember that your report must include an introduction paragraph and two information paragraphs.) Do your best to use good grammar, spelling, and punctuation. (You will have a chance to fix any mistakes during the revision process.)
- Complete the Canadian Person Report: Rough Draft Reflection and submit it with the rough draft of your report.
Rubric
Remember to refer to the Canadian Person Report Rubric to see what your teacher will be looking for in your work.
When you are writing your rough draft, think about the following points:
- Are my words precise? Do they say exactly what I mean?
- Do my words create interest? Would my report be interesting to read?
- Do my words create the emotion I want from my audience (my teacher)?
- Have I included all the information from my research?
- Do each of my paragraphs have a specific purpose? Is each paragraph focused, or does it go in many directions at once?
