Unit A: Geometry

Chapter 2: Transformations

Dilations

Pupils are the black circles in the middle of the eye that allow light to penetrate the eye.

In dim environments, pupils dilate to allow more light to enter the eye to improve vision. In this lesson, dilations will be applied to shapes and objects.

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to

  • discuss the concepts of similarity and proportion with respect to dilations
    • identify a dilation that was performed on a 2D shape
    • draw the image of a 2D or 3D shape from a dilation
