L4 Rotations
Completion requirements
Unit A: Geometry
Chapter 2: Transformations
Owls have the unique ability to rotate their head close to 360°.

A quarter turn to the left is the same as rotating 90° counterclockwise.

An snowy owl can rotate its head a half turn (180°) without damaging the blood vessels in its neck!

The last transformation to be studied in this chapter is called a rotation. A rotation is the movement of a shape or object about a fixed point. The pinwheel in the picture on the right rotates about the white centre point.

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to
- identify a single rotation that was performed, given the original 2D shape or 3D object and its image
- draw the image of a 2D shape that results from a given rotation
- draw the image of a 2D shape that results from a combination of two separate transformations
