Unit 3: Logic and Reasoning
Unit 3: Logic and Reasoning
Suppose you are looking at a vending machine and the item you want to buy is unlabeled, but it is sitting between G6 and G8. You might conclude that you should use the G7 button to select the item.
Imagine you see the same woman standing outside a convenience store each day on your way to school. You might expect to see her tomorrow on your way to school.
Reasoning is what allows us to draw conclusions from given information. It is something you likely do regularly, even though you might not notice. In this Module, you will explore two types of reasoning: inductive and deductive. You will also learn the strengths and drawbacks of each.
Lesson 3.1: Inductive Reasoning
Every day you interact with the world around you and experience a variety of events. It is common to draw conclusions from these experiences; this is the basis of most learning. In this Lesson you will explore these types of conclusions and how accurate you can expect them to be.

In Lesson 3.1, you will learn about
- making conjectures using inductive reasoning
- using counterexamples to show a conjecture is false
