Lesson 6.2: The Normal Distribution
In the previous lesson you explored various distributions of data. Just knowing how a data set is distributed can give you a rough idea of where the data lies. However, far more information is available when the data is formally analyzed. One of the most common and important distributions in statistics is the normal distribution. In the next two lessons you will investigate the normal distribution in detail.
Â
In Lesson 6.2, you will
- describe characteristics of a normal distribution
- determine if a data set is normally distributed
- determine areas under a normal curve
- solve problems using areas under a normal curve
