Statistics Unit Summary

Studying the distribution of a set of data can give you an idea of how individual data values fit within the set of data and a histogram is a nice way to represent that data visually. The normal distribution is a common distribution shape and is the foundation of much of statistical theory.

The use of statistics allows a researcher to make generalizations about a population based on a small sample of the population. Typically, when a researcher makes a claim, the sample size, margin of error, and confidence level are reported to justify that claim.

Statistics can be very useful when interpreting information; however, statistics need to be read critically to ensure a reasonable conclusion has been drawn.

In the next module you will complete a research project and review the concepts you have learned in this course.
