Measurement Summary

Understanding measurement is crucial to communicating the size of something. Measurements can be made informally using referents or by using more formal instruments like a ruler or a calliper.

The SI system is the official measurement system in Canada and for most of the world, but the imperial system is still common enough that Canadians must have a basic understanding of it. Both systems use a variety of units of varying sizes and in order to solve problems, it is often necessary to convert from one unit to another.
