D. Volume of Spheres

Recall that a sphere is an object whose surface points are all equidistant from its centre. This common distance is called the radius.

Key Lesson Marker

In general, the volume formula for any sphere is

r is the radius

Example 1

Determine the volume of the beach ball, to the nearest tenth.

Step 1: Find the radius of the ball.

Step 2: Substitute r = 9 into the formula for the volume of a sphere.
