Adding with Algebra Tiles

Expressions can be added by combining two or more groups of algebra tiles.

Example 1

Add $(x^{2} + 3 x - 1) + (3 x^{2} - x - 4)$ using algebra tiles.

A positive and a negative tile of the same size add to zero, so the pair can be removed.
