Lesson 6.4B video link here. (Video under development)

A relation represents a connection. A function is a well-behaved relation because every unique input yields a unique output. Economics is a social science that uses linear functions to represent and analyze production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services in an economy. Economists use linear functions because they are convenient and simple to use.

In Lesson 6.4, you will learn about

  • learn why some relations are not functions, but all functions are relations

  • use equations to represent relations and functions

  • use function notation

  • solve for variables in linear functions
