Hello there!  My name is Delaney, and I am your tutor for English 30-2.  My job is to help you through your assignments by giving you extra tips and examples.  This is a fun course, and I hope you love it!  I grew up in Calgary, Alberta, right in the heart of the city, and I have lived and worked here my whole life.  I began my career as an aide in an elementary school classroom.  But when I tutored high school students in English while I attended university, I decided that tutoring was my true passion.  So here I am, ready to help you succeed in your course!

Hi!  I’m Darcy.  I have lived in Stettler, Alberta my whole life, and I spend a lot of time helping out on our ranch.  I spend lots of my free time riding my horses and playing sports like lacrosse and volleyball (division champs this year!).  Like a good country girl, I love my country music, my cowboy boots, and going to the Calgary Stampede every year.  My plan is to start college next year so I can train to become a large animal vet technician.

Hey.  I’m Riley. . . from Ryley.  Seriously.  I’m from Ryley, Alberta.  As you can see, my parents have a weird sense of humour.  I would say I’m all about anything mechanical.  I’ve got an old ’55 Chevy 3100 that I got from the junkyard and basically rebuilt good as new.  That kind of stuff just makes sense to me.  My goal is to study instrumentation technology and eventually work in the oil field.  I won’t lie, English isn’t my favourite subject, but I need it to pass my diploma exam, so I’ll do whatever it takes, you know?

What’s up?  My name is Tyrone.  I’m from the Elizabeth Métis Settlement.  I used to live in Cold Lake, Alberta, a nearby town, but I moved back to help out my mom.  She is raising my two little sisters by herself.  They are 3 and 5, and it takes a lot of work to take care of them!  My mom and I take turns working, so someone is always at home, so I work night shifts sometimes at a local gas station.  This earns me enough money to keep my car going, pay for dates (ha ha), and help with the bills.  My goal is to graduate from high school and study either environmental engineering (if I can stand four more years of school) or maybe welding, if I decide to do a trade.

Hello!  I’m Sabah, from Fort McMurray.  My passion is cooking, and I hope to study Culinary Arts at NAIT (The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) after I graduate.  Someday I’d like to own my own Persian restaurant in Edmonton so I can share the traditional dishes I grew up eating at home.  I’m on the softball team and have been for four years.  I love it very much!  In my free time, I greatly enjoy photography (yay, Instagram!), camping, playing board games with my family, or watching scary movies with my friends.

Hey. . . My name is Lola, and I live in Fox Creek, Alberta.  I have been at the outreach school in Fox Creek for the last two years because I had some issues with bullying in my high school.  My dream is to move to a big city on the West Coast and go to music school so I can pursue a career in music.  I’d like to work on writing music for movie soundtracks someday, but my parents want me to be practical, . . . so I’ll probably minor in something like graphic design.  I can get a good job creating advertisements and company logos until I am able to get a job in the music industry.

Shout out from Edinburgh, Scotland!  My name’s Simon, and I’ve been living here for the last two years while my brother finishes up university.  He’s my legal guardian.  Originally, I’m from Lethbridge, Alberta, and I hope to go back there as soon as I turn eighteen and finish high school.  Edinburgh is awesome, but it’s not like home.  Eventually, I’d like to become an EMT in Lethbridge, so I need this course to get into the program at Lethbridge College.
