Literary Exploration Essay Thesis Statement

Earlier, you completed a Literary Exploration Essay Planning Sheet answering this question:

What is your opinion of the idea that the ability to face hardship is an essential human quality?

Now you are going to use that planning sheet to help you organize a Literary Exploration essay.  You wonโ€™t write a full essay yet.  For now, you will just focus on planning one.

Follow each of these steps, in order, to complete your required practice assignment.

Step 1:  Download the Using Character Transformation in Essay Writing Worksheet in Word, Google doc, or PDF format).
NOTE:  You will not hand this in for assessment, but you will submit your thesis statement, and the handout will help you write your thesis.
Step 2:  Open the Using Character Transformation in Essay Writing Tutorial that you studied earlier.  Use this tutorial to help you complete the handout.

Step 3:  Locate the Initial Planning Sheet you completed earlier.  You will use it to complete this assignment.  If you did not complete this planning sheet yet, download it and complete it now.

Step 4:  Complete the Using Character Transformation in Essay Writing Handout.

Step 5:  Once you have completed the handouts, copy the thesis statement you wrote, and post it to the Moodle Forum discussion board for peer feedback.

  1. Locate the Moodle Forum by clicking on the link in Step 5, or go to the top navigation bar under Communication.  Select Forum and scroll to the thread called Literary Exploration PracticePost your statement there.

  2. Respond to the post before yours and after yours.  Aim for a one to three-sentence comment for each classmateโ€™s thesis.  Write one specific positive comment and one specific constructive criticism for each.

  3. Consider the feedback you receive on your thesis before moving on to the last task in this tutorial.  While you are waiting, proceed to the next page and complete Assignment 2.5.   Be sure to return to the discussion board to see if your peers provided suggestions you can apply to your final task in this tutorial.

NOTE:  To be eligible to write your English 30-2 exams, you must complete all assignments, quizzes, and Moodle Forum posts.
