In preparation for this unit—the novel study—you will need to choose your novel from an approved novel list.
NOTE: Before you begin reading your novel, wait for important instructions on the next few pages about activities you must complete as you read.
Take some time to examine the novels on this approved novel list. Read the plot summaries of the novels we have provided, and then go online to read what others are saying about the books before you make your selection.
NOTE: Your novel must be chosen from the approved list.
Sites such as www.goodreads.com and www.amazon.com feature reviews written by other readers. Many of these books are available at your local library (either in hard copy or digital copy).
Read the first twenty pages or so to see if the book interests you. If not, choose one of the other novels on the approved list. Don’t hesitate to abandon a book that doesn’t suit your interests. Just try something else on the list. There is something here for everyone.
