Practice Film Observation Chart:  Walter Mitty



Step 1:  Download the OPTIONAL Practice Film Observation Chart for Walter Mitty (in Word, Google doc, or PDF format).  Print out the chart if you would like to hand write your answers as you watch the film, or type your answers directly into the chart itself.

NOTE:  While you are not required to submit this assignment, it is strongly encouraged, as you will be completing a similar assignment in the next section of this unit and will need a strong understanding of these concepts.

Step 2:  Read the examples provided for you on the chart.  As you watch the film, stop at each of the time stamps provided in the Walter Mitty Observation Chart and observe the technique and its effect.  This process will help you become more aware of the cinematic techniques the director used in the film.

Step 3:  Complete each section of the observation chart entitled β€œNow, you try β†’.”  Here you will enter an observation of your own for each stage of Walter’s transformation, using the examples provided in the worksheet as a guide.

The more observant and detailed you can be in your notes, the easier you will find the remaining assignments in the module.

Your detailed notes will also provide you with strong examples to draw from for your diploma exam as well.

Step 4:  You are encouraged, but not required, to submit your optional chart to your teacher for feedback.  This is not for marks.  If you plan to do so, save your assignment in the following way:  Your Full Name Practice Film Observation Chart: Walter Mitty.

Step 5:  Submit your optional assignment by e-mailing it to your teacher.  He or she will provide you with feedback.
