Darcy's 3.4 Cracked Vision Board Explanation Paragraph

NOTE:  Darcy analyzed the character Wes Holman from the short story” Long, Long After School” for his assignment.  You will be analyzing a character from Selfie

I choose Animoto to create my vision board because it allowed me to add music to the whole presentation and animate it in a way that looked really professional.  I found it quite easy to use!  I chose the character of Wes Holman from the short story “Long, Long After School,” by Ernest Buckler.  For the first part of the vision board, I wanted to show Wes’ vision of his future before Miss Tretheway intervened in his life.  He had difficulty making friends and was often teased in school.  I used the images of the blurry people walking on a city sidewalk to show how others passed him by.  I chose the image of the umbrella blowing across an empty street to show Wes’ loneliness.  Then, I used the image of the window with the two flowers as a symbol to represent the transition from Wes’ old vision to his new vision.  Miss Tretheway opened a door that he thought was closed—a door to friendship, academic success, and happiness.

For Wes’ new vision, the second part of the vision board, I used the image of the heart-shaped cloud to show that Wes’ new vision for his future was about the possibility of love and friendship in his life.  The picture of the road going through the forest of trees showed that his future was more open now that someone believed in him.  Everything seemed possible—having friends, being loved, being successful in school.  The sunflower picture is a symbol of hope and happiness to represent Miss Tretheway.  I decided to end with the clip of the balloon floating away because it seemed like a good image to represent Miss Tretheway passing away, but it’s not a dark image.  A balloon floating in a blue sky seems happy, and I thought that was appropriate.
