Ask an Astronaut

What is it like to live in space?

Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield helped to answer this question in 2013 when he spent 146 days in space as the commander of the International Space Station.

Each day, he shared what he saw and felt during this mission using technology tools such as Twitter and video conferencing. Hadfield felt it was important to send back messages since "I came here on behalf of so many people" and because "It's just too good an experience to keep to yourself".

In this lesson, you will:

  • explore what it is like to live in space
  • learn how to determine the reliability of information
  • learn how to use photographs to gain additional information
