Before reading the selection, you will do two activities.

Use What You Know


On the What's the Reality? Lesson Questions Chart, write down a list of all the reality TV programs you have watched or have heard of.


Then answer this question on the chart:

  • Do you think reality TV shows have a positive or negative impact on viewers?

  • What do the headings, subtitles, and illustrations suggest to you about the author's opinions?
