Brochures are similar to reports or articles in that they both provide information.
You will continue to practise the reading strategy of summarizing as you work through this lesson. You will learn the characteristics of a news article, you will learn the elements of a sentence, such as how to add transitions that make sentences flow.

Step on Board Summary Chart
On page 147 of Literacy in Action 6B, read the section of the selection entitled "In May 1497..."
Then, summarize the information on the Step on Board Summary Chart in the document Step on Board Summary Questions.
Crack the Code
Read the rest of the selection on pages 146 to 149 of Literacy in Action 6B.
Use your crack the code word strategies of using parts of words that you know in any unfamiliar words.
After reading the selection, complete this summarizing challenge:
- Summarize each section of the selection in the Step on Board Summary Chart below.
- Use the second Step on Board Summary Chart provided in the document Step on Board Summary Questions worksheet.
- Answer the heading questions using as few words as possible.
- The section called Today's Matthew has been done for you, as an example.
Save
How to save a file:
