Activities, Assessments & Assignments

Each unit of study has a variety of:
- Activities (Not for marks)
- Assessments - Formative (Not for marks)
- Assignments - Summative (Included for marks)
The 6 Units of study have many readings of different genres and styles, as well as listening to, and viewing of online resources.
Each unit includes a variety of activities, assessments and assignments that may involve...
- Writing ideas and answers to questions about the reading selections.
- Saving all assessment and assignment files to your personal Documents folder on your computer.
- Submitting assessments and assignments to your teacher when requested.
Every Unit also includes Word Wall Words for you to learn. As you progress through the lessons and units of study your Word Wall Words list will expand, providing you easy access to your list to ensure you use correct spelling of all list words.
The list words are words that are commonly found in Grade 4 materials. Knowing them well β on sight, not having to figure them out when you see them β will make your reading and writing activities easier.
You must also learn to spell each Word Wall Word without help. We call Word Wall Words βNo excuse wordsβ, meaning there are no excuses for misspelling them once you have studied them. At the end of each unit, there will be an assessment of the words for you to show what youβve learned.
Now that you have the basic information, letβs get started!
