Reading Skill - Inferring
Reading Skill: To Infer – Inferring – or to make an Inference
You used an important comprehension skill in the last assessment called inferring, or making an inference.
You determined why some students stared at Seema, without the author telling you why.
When you infer, or make an inference, you make a decision based on the available information or evidence.
For example, you may have concluded that some students stared at Seema because she was different and couldn’t speak English, but the author didn’t actually tell you that.
