Reading Strategies

You have been practising using the ask questions, pause and check, summarize reading strategy.

  • Think about this strategy.
    • How has it helped you read and understand the selections in this unit?
    • How does asking yourself questions before you start to read help you focus on the words in the selection?
    • How does pausing to think about what you have read so far help you understand what the author is saying?
    • What does summarizing make you think about?

  • Write your answer to the question (How has it helped you read and understand the selections in the unit?) in your Reader’s Notebook: Reading Strategies.
