Read pages 1 to 15 of Dear Mr. Henshaw
As you read pages 1 to 15, use the questions below to guide your reading and thinking about the novel:
- How does Leighโs letter writing get started?
- Why doesnโt Leigh like where he lives?
- What does Leigh want to be when he grows up?
- What kinds of answers did Mr. Henshaw write in response to Leighโs questions? What do these answers tell you about Mr. Henshaw?
- Why did Leigh have a fight with his mother?
- Leigh ends his letters differently each time. He ends with words like your friend, your best reader, your number 1 fan, early in the story but this changes as the story goes on to yours truly, disgusted reader, to be continued maybe. What happens in the story to cause this change?

Now it's time to open your Dear Mr. Henshaw Diary from your Documents folder and complete the activities for Part 1.You will be required to write a summary of the section you just read, complete a few questions and/or draw a picture.

- Have the file open and select Save As from the File menu.
