Dear Mr. Henshaw: Part Two

Read pages 16 to 22 of Dear Mr. Henshaw

In this part of the story, pages 16 to 22, Leigh continues to answer Mr. Henshaw’s questions. When you’re finished reading these pages, you will complete the Part 2 section of your diary.

As you read pages 16 to 22, use the questions below to guide your reading and thinking about this section:

  • Why does Leigh stop writing Mr. Henshaw?
  • What happened between Leigh’s mother and father?
  • Leigh’s house doesn’t sound very nice. Why do he and his mother live there?
  • Leigh continues to change the way he ends his letters. What do the endings tell us about how Leigh is feeling?
  • Make an inference: Who is Bandit?
