  1. Read page 4 of What I Did with My Coin Collection starting with the question, " How did Tiger Woods use his hobby to help others?" Then, go to Reader's Notebook: What I Did with My Coin Collection worksheet .
      • Pause and sketch an image of what you read in the first box. Use these words (coin, coin collection, Tiger, Tiger’s father, golf clubs) to guide your sketch.

      • Predict what may come next: how do you think Tiger’s coin collection will be part of the story? Write your response on the page.

  2. Read page 5.
      • Pause and sketch an image of what you just read in the next box. Use these words (Ethiopia, poor children, starving, TV, tricycle, lucky, Tiger, Tiger’s father) to guide your sketch.

      • Predict what may come next: what do you think Tiger will do now that he knows about these children? Write your response on the page.

  3. Read page 6.
      • Pause and sketch an image of what you just read in the next box. Use these words (TV, books, golf clubs, Ethiopian kids, box of coins, Tiger, Tiger’s father) to guide your sketch.

      • Predict what may come next: why do you think Tiger did that for the children? Write your response on the page.

  4. Read page 7.
      • Pause and sketch an image of what you just read in the final box. Use these words (share and care, coins, golf tournament, Nelson Mandela, Tiger, Tiger’s father) to guide your sketch.



Save

How to save a file:


  1. Have the file open and select Save As from the File menu.
  2. Name your Reader's Notebook: What I Did With My Coin Collection file in this format: jsmith_coincollection and save the file to your Documents folder.
