In this section, you will complete the following tasks:

  • view a Brainpop video on how to Compare and Contrast news articles
  • type information in a compare and contrast chart
  • learn new Word Wall Words

This video Is titled: Compare and Contrast with Annie and Moby


  1. One of first things you will notice when you view the video is that Annie and Moby are talking about two types of sea creature; Sharks and Dolphins.
  2.   The next thing you should do is to ask yourself, what background knowledge you have about these creatures.
      • What do I already know about sharks?
      • What do I already know about dolphins?
      • Is this something I have seen or read about before?

  3. As you watch the video pay attention to ways in which the sharks and dolphins are the same, as well as ways in which sharks and dolphins are different. 
  4. Make note of these similarities and differences on your Compare and Contrast assignment page. Remember when you use a Venn Diagram the centre overlap of the circles is where you write how the two items being compared are the same. This is another way for you to synthesize information.
