Unit 6

Amazing Places!

Assignment

Making a Story Map

Your task for this legend is to create a story map for it. A story map has specific details related to a story.

Story maps contain the following information:

  1. Setting: this includes where or what place the story happened and when (the time period).
  2. Main Characters: include the person the story is directly about and other characters that appear a lot in the story.
  3. Beginning: is where you learn the setting of the story and the main character(s) are introduced. The problem of the story may also be introduced.
  4. Events: events are listed in the order in which they happen. You should use sequence words to list events. (Example: First, next, next, then, finally)
      • Stories always start with a problem, and events in the story lead up to a conflict, then the climax, which is the high point in the story, then the resolution to the problem.

  5. Ending: is where the problem is solved and shows how the characters feel at the end of the story.
