General Outcomes
In this course you will continue to develop all of your Language Arts skills. These are the outcomes for Grade 4 Language Arts:
Students will listen, speak, read, write, view, and represent to explore thoughts, ideas, feelings, and experiences.
Discover and Explore
- compare new ideas with prior knowledge
- discuss and compare development of topics in different forms
- choose appropriate forms
- assess progress (self-evaluation)

- identify perceptions
- record and reflect on ideas through notes, reflective paragraphs, lists, etc.
Students will listen, speak, read, write, view, and represent to comprehend and respond personally and critically to oral, print, and other media texts.

Understand Forms, Elements, and Techniques
- use prior knowledge, organizational structure, visual clues, etc. to assist comprehension
- extend sight vocabulary
- monitor understanding through use of predictions, text features, structural elements, etc.
- use phonics and structural analysis to read new words

- describe and compare characters, connections among events, importance of setting, etc.
