Angles in Standard Position

Most angles are to be drawn in standard position. This allows for a convenient geometric interpretation of the trigonometric ratios. Angles in standard position are drawn on a set of axes, with the initial arm of the angle on the positive «math style=¨font-family:Verdana¨ xmlns=¨http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML¨»«mstyle mathsize=¨14px¨»«mi»x«/mi»«/mstyle»«/math»-axis and the vertex at the origin. Angles measured in a counter-clockwise direction are positive, while angles measured in a clockwise direction are negative.

When drawn in standard position, you can draw large angles,

very large angles,

and even negative angles.
