Famous as the 40th President of the United States, Reagan is known for helping end the Cold War and for his economic policies of Reaganomics that limited the role of government.

Main Ideas
Reagan favoured a reduction in government programs and reduced regulations for business. He opposed to welfare spending and excessive taxation and introduced the largest tax cuts in U.S. history. He was staunchly anti-communist and ordered a massive increase in military spending providing funding to paramilitary forces that were trying to overthrow socialist governments in Central America and Afghanistan. Popular during his time in office, Reagan is also known for leaving a huge national debt.
