Lesson 18 — Activity 3: The Final Copy
Now that you have taken the time to revise and edit your essay, you are almost ready to prepare your final draft.
You might find that you have written several versions of your essay by now and that your original rough draft looks much different from the one you are preparing to write now, but that is alright.
In fact, that is a good sign that you have been careful to revise and edit the writing to create a work that your reader will enjoy reading.
There are just a few more details to attend to before you write your final draft once you have revised your content and edited your spelling, grammar, and sentence structure.

Just about done:

Here are some points to consider to make your essay look good to the
reader (in addition to sounding good in terms of its content or message):
- Are your pages in order?
- Have your written neatly or typed using a font that is easy to read? Is your font size appropriate?
- Have you read the essay over one last time to look for errors?
- Have you used a spell checker and a grammar checker? Remember that they
do not always catch errors, so be your own spell checker and grammar
checker, too. Again, ask someone whose judgment you trust to read over
your essay once again.
- Have you followed any instructions from your teacher about length of the essay, colour of ink, spacing, margins, etc.?
- Were you asked to have a title page?
- Have you saved a copy in case something happens to your original essay?

Whatever
you can think of that will improve the appearance as well as the
content of your essay will be helpful in creating an attractive final
product.
