Frequently Asked Questions
How do I submit documents from Google Drive into Moodle?
Read through the help document Uploading Google Docs into Moodle 2021
Do I have to complete my assignments in Word and PPT as the lesson indicates?
No. You may use those, but you may also use Google Docs, as well as Pages and Keynote.
If you use something else, please save it as a PDF to submit.
The
type of document you use does not matter, as long as it is universally readable, like a PDF.
What happens if my document is too big for the dropbox?
Upload your document to your Google Drive. Share the link with your teacher!
Open a new document that tells your teacher you have shared your document in Google Drive.
Post
this document to the dropbox in Moodle so that it opens for your teacher to leave feedback and your mark.
DO NOT EMAIL ASSIGNMENTS TO YOUR TEACHER!!
How do I post to the dropbox an assignment in Unit ONE that I have been allowed to resubmit?
Do NOT delete from the dropbox the original assignment that has already been marked!!
The dropboxes are set to hold more than one
document. Save your resubmitted document with a 2 in the filename so that Moodle recognizes it as something different. For example, GS20P1smith becomes GS20P12smith when resubmitted.
What help can I get with reading or text-to-speech?
First, you must have downloaded the Google Chrome browser. All students in RVS have a Gmail account. When logged in to Google Chrome, you have access to Read&Write for Google Chrome. This document explains How to Set Up Read&Write for Google Chrome and this document provides a Quick Reference Guide to Google Chrome.
I can't see my marks in Power School for my sociology course. Where are they?
If you attend more than one school in RVS, such as Bert Church and RVSO, for example, you will have more than one tab to click to find your marks.

What happens if I fall behind and need a new schedule?
You will be responsible for creating your own new schedule for completion. Your teacher does not know of your other responsibilities - duties at home, part-time job, extra-curricular,
etc., so asking your teacher to do this may result in a schedule that will not work for you.
Use this blank calendar to
create your new schedule. It contains entries for holidays and PL days when there are no classes. Keep in mind that PL days are great days for students to use to get caught up! This calendar also contains all of the diploma exam dates for the year.
Once
you have created your new schedule, share it with your teacher so they are aware of your catch-up plan.
Who do I go to for tech support?
Before asking for any help - refresh your browser, try a different browser, and reboot your computer if necessary. This will solve 95% of your problems.
You should be working in either a Chrome or Firefox browser. The default browsers (Safari and IE) are not used by designers, so much of the software we use, doesn't work nearly as well with them. And the default browsers are targets for viruses as
so many people do use them. Both Chrome and Firefox are free downloads. IF your problem is not resolved by trying the first three steps, contact your teacher. They will ask you if you have done the first three steps!! They will be able
to solve most of your issues. It will be rare that it would be necessary to escalate an issue by sending a ticket to the Help Desk. Asking your teacher for help will, most of the time, solve your problem much more quickly than submitting a ticket.
