Aizuchi are interjections that listeners make when listening to the speaker to show that they are paying attention.
In Japanese, if you don't say anything when someone else is talking, they might think you're not listening to them or that you're not interested in their story. If you're on the phone with them, they might even think you hung up!
Below are some commonly used Aizuchi interjections.
