Assignment #2: Composition
Let's start taking some photos and embrace your new found composition knowledge!
Please note that the following criteria applies to EVERY assignment within this course. Photos submitted for assignments must be original photos specifically taken for this course. You can not use photos that you have taken for other purposes in your personal life.
Most importantly . . . you must be the photographer!
Look around your world and find objects that look like letters. Do the branches of your maple tree look like the letter Y? How about the clock in your kitchen? Does it resemble the letter O?
You will need to collect photos of these letter-like objects to spell your first name. Note that you can not use letters that were originally made for text purposes. eg. you cannot use the S from a Stop Sign.
Make sure you use the composition skills gained in this course to help you frame your shot (eg. white space, visual tension). Here's an example using the creator of this on-line course, ADLC. Can you see how each photo represents each letter in our company name?

Insert all the photos in correct order (to spell your name) into one a word or pdf document. After it is saved, submit the file for marking.

Since every student's name will be a different length, the photos will be marked as a group. Your name photos will be marked based on:
- visual tension /5
- balance /5
- white space /5
- point of view /5
- creativity, originality and how effective your letter photos work together to create your name /5
This assignment is out of 25 marks and is worth 10% of your final course grade.

When you have completed the assignment, save it. You are now ready to submit this assignment for marking.

When you have completed the assignment, save it. You are now ready to submit this assignment for marking.
- Click on the Add submission icon.
- Next drag your file into the File Submission section
- Save changes.
- Click on Submit Assignment to finish submitting your submission.
How to submit a Google Slides/Doc.
It is very important you have the correct sharing setting or your assignment will not be accessible for grading. Please be sure that you choose the setting that allows βAnyone with the linkβ to view it.
Then copy that shared link and paste it in the 'Online textβ box on the assignment submission page.
Please remember to click βSave changesβ
when you are finished so that Moodle knows you are done and your work
is ready to be assessed. This will then trigger a notification to me
that your work has been submitted for grading.
