The Assignment
Step 2: Write a rough draft of a personal letter to yourself in the future. It is to be opened perhaps after graduation, a milestone birthday, or an important moment in your life.
Tip: Use Montgomery's letter as a springboard as to what you
could include in your own letter: your current friends, interests, what
you think about life/current events at the moment, and so on.
Step 4: Revise your letter appropriately, and write your polished 2.1 Letter.
Note: It is expected that have gone through your work and edited it for grammar and punctuation errors. If you have many errors in grammar, spelling, organization, and so on, don't be surprised if your teacher asks you to make these corrections and resubmit.

Step 5: Upload your polished letter for assessment.
- Read Roseβs 2.1 Letter to herself and the rubric her marker used to assess her work.
- Review Kevinβs 2.1 Letter assignment. He asked Amy for some feedback, and you can also read her suggestions.
- Write to your future self in order to remember the person you are now. Asking yourself questions about what has happened in the future will not provide that information. Write about
- the people in your life now,
- the things you love to do now,
- the things that have happened in your life up to now,
- how you feel about yourself and your life now!!
Pretend to be the older version of yourself and reply to your letter. Consider some questions: What experiences might you have had? What might the world be like? What perspective might you bring to the problems you voiced in your original
letter?
- Name your letterLastname, FirstnameELA101_2.1Letter.
- Submit your work for assessment.
- If you are submitting a Google document, copy and paste the sharing link into the online text space. Ensure share settings are set to "Anyone with the link can comment."
- If you are submitting a Word or PDF document, upload the file.
