1.5 Who Would You Hire?

Assume you are a school principal in charge of hiring a new teacher. Your school has a family atmosphere that fosters teamwork, compassion, and integrity. The candidates you choose to interview must be strong role models for all children, ensuring that students feel welcome and valued by your staff.

Choose one character from “The Charmer” and one character from “Boys and Girls” whom you would consider to be the strongest candidates for the position.

Using the interview questions provided in the Worksheets tab, record the responses you think each character would say, based on his/her overall development in the short stories.  Your interview questions for the character you decide is the best candidate for the teaching position will be graded. 

After you have finished this process, write a letter of recommendation to Dr. Willowbrook, your Superintendent, which explains why you recommend the person you have selected.  Your letter should be professional in tone but also demonstrate your understanding of the character and the short story so avoid creating a letter that is too generic.

Once you have completed this assignment, save it as Your Name 1.5 Who Would You Hire and submit it for assessment.  Remember to submit both the 1.5 Interview Questions for your chosen character, as well as your reference letter.
