When you start studying the weather, you could spend your whole lifetime learning new things! This unit teaches you the basics of weather, but unfortunately, going into great detail about some very interesting weather events would takes much
more time. However, now is your chance to fix that!
In this activity, you get the chance to choose a weather phenomenon of interest to you and present a weather broadcast to clearly explain it to the public.

Choose a weather phenomenon or event such as storm, blizzard, tornado, hurricane, chinook, drought, flood etc.
- Watch the daily news to learn how to do a weather broadcast and to learn the vocabulary terms such as weather watch, advisory, and warning.
- Do an Internet search to learn about the weather phenomenon.

Create a "Weather Event or Phenomenon" broadcast.
Include the following:
- Present a forecast to the public that provides a clear explanation of your weather phenomenon
- Identify the location of this weather phenomenon
- Include appropriate vocabulary for the weather event that you have chosen such as temperature, wind speed and direction, barometric pressure, and humidity or precipitation, warm front, cold front etc.
- Provide information about how your weather phenomenon will affect people (For example, is it dangerous? If it is dangerous, what can people do to prepare, be safe, and avoid or survive it?)
- Include an image (photo or drawing) of your weather phenomenon.
