A Guide to Our Solar System
Look back at the targets of this section and determine whether you have reached them.
Throughout this section, you learned about the characteristics of the planets of the solar system as well as some of their moons. You have a better idea of how Earth, the Sun and the Moon are part of a solar system that occupies only a tiny part of the known universe. Would you be able to take someone on a tour of the Solar System?
Imagine you are a tour guide developing a visitorβs guide to our solar system.

The visitor's guide should
- identify and describe each of the planets in the solar system. In your description be sure to explain how the characteristics and surface conditions of the planets are different than Earth.
- show where each planet is located in the solar system
- choose 2 moons of planets other than Earth and identify the similarities and differences of the characteristics of those moons with Earthβs Moon
- offer 1 interesting fact or detail about each planet in the solar system
