Assignment

You will create an infographic. Please use your own ideas.

An infographic is a visual representation of information, data or knowledge intended to present information quickly, clearly and concisely: info + graphic = infographic. Infographics are somewhat like posters.

Step 1 Review your notes (sticky or otherwise) in relation to theme and symbols in Hamlet.
Step 2 Identify one theme that is present within the play and determine 3 symbols that best represent that theme (life-lesson). Review the video on Theme and remember that you are not providing a summary of the plot events.
Step 3 Create a one-page infographic which explains how the 3 symbols represent the theme in Hamlet. Include
  • the title of the play
  • the author
  • the theme (one sentence)
  • 3 symbols with a brief caption/explanation about the symbol's significance to the theme
  • 3 quotations from the play, one for each symbol, with a reference to the act, scene and lines numbers in parentheses like this: (2.3.14-17)
  • You are unlikely to have any outside resources, but if you do, cite them using MLA style.
Free online tools can help you create your visually attractive and informative infographic:
  • Piktochart (Watch the demo to see examples of infographics.)
  • Other tools (Click here to see examples of infographics.)
  • Google Slides (resize your slide under "Page Setup"→"Customization")
  • Google Drawings
If you need images, use free ones: www.pixabay.com and www.pexels.com (avoid the sponsored images).
Step 4 Review the rubric. Submit your 3.5 infographic as a PDF file.
